My kitchen, My Domain.

Here in Greenland eating out doesn't happen that often. When we first moved to Sisismiut I think I would have given my right arm to have a Burger King or a McDonalds to hop on over to! :)  Usually us eating out is, going to the small cafe down the road to get some french fries to go with some hamburgers. We do have several cafes in town, but they are pricey and sometimes not all that great :)  That being said, my kitchen is my domain. :) I love to cook. I may not be that great at it, but I enjoy cooking.

I am always on the lookout for new recipes to try. The other day I was looking around on Pinterest and came across a chicken crock pot recipe. I would be lost without my crock pot, especially when we are in school. Anyway, I usually don't have much success with recipes on Pinterest, but this one looked too good to pass up. It is in my crock pot right now, and it smells AMAZING! :)  Here is a link to the recipe~

My kitchen buddy. :)
I would love to hear some of your favorite recipe sites, or even just your families favorite meals that you enjoy around your table. :)

The sun!!

Today the sun has returned to Ilulissat! You don't realize how much you miss it until it is gone. We hiked up a small mountain today and watched the sun as it peaked above the mountain. It was a great sight!
On our way

Some ice bergs in the bay

lots of people on their way to see the sun

THE SUN!!

It was cold, but so worth the walk!

Love the view!

My favorite song!

This song has an amazing message that I believe a lot of people need to hear!

A World We Never Touch

He walked along the shores of Galilee
From clay He formed the healing balm
That caused the blind to see
When stones of wrath lay heavy in their hands
He knelt to write His mercy in the sand
Jesus came to set the captives free
Showed us by the way He lived
The way we need to be
Oh love is more than words could ever say
We must touch them with compassion
To help them find their way

How can we reach a world we never touch?
How can we show them Christ
If we never show them love?
Just to say we care will never be enough
How can we reach a world we never touch?

Could we be so busy being saved
Trying to impress a world that’s long since lost its way
We pride ourselves in being set apart
Yet we don’t have time to touch a broken heart
Even if we found the time to care
Would we take the risk involved in always being there
Oh we hold the very thing they need so much
Sometimes the Word of life can pass
Through just a simple touch

We hide behind these walls
And the security of friends
While beyond the stained glass windows
The world is lost in sin

How can we reach a world we never touch?
How can we show them Christ
If we never show them love?
Just to say we care will never be enough
How can we reach a world we never touch?

Greenland tidbits...part 1

For the next few posts on here I thought I would share some random things about Greenland. Hope you enjoy them!

The first thought most people have when they think of Greenland is a barren, frozen, wasteland. That is somewhat true in the winter here. :) It is still beautiful in the winter, but summer in Greenland has it's own distinct beauty. We may not have trees, but we do have some beautiful moss covered mountains, flowers, and berry bushes. The national flower is the Niviarsiaq. There are also lots of other flowers that The Lord has placed here to make Greenland a little bit more colorful. Here are just a few!

Dandelions are in abundance here in the summer
