Blueberry Cream Cheese Bread!

You are probably thinking another recipe?! All this lady does is cook and eat! Yes, you are right. Cooking and eating are two of my favorite hobbies. :)

I came across this recipe looking up different breakfast ideas. My family likes fruit breads/muffins for breakfast. I found a  recipe for the blueberry cream cheese bread on Pinterest.

It was a challenge for me to make this. It is pretty involved, BUT my husband and kids LOVED it! It is really yummy. The filling you make is almost like a cheese cake (it makes it really moist). So if you are looking for a challenge you can find the link to the bread here.

Our treasures.

Psalm 127:3a
Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord:

I refer to my children as my treasures. Why?  Because that is exactly what they are! They are a precious gift from the Lord that we only have a short time with. They were given to us to raise, to love, to enjoy, and to teach to have a love for the Lord.

Sometimes I fall short. But thankfully my kids are great forgivers! :)  I have learned a lot from them. I know some will say, what can I learn from a child? Well, you can learn a LOT!  Forgiveness, complete trust, unconditional love, happiness, and the list could go on.

A cook book must have!

I love cook books!  I was looking around on Pinterest the other day and came across a really neat website called Blissful and Domestic.  You can check it out here.

She has a lot of really neat recipes, and some great homeschooling ideas.

One thing I LOVE on her site are the recipes. She has a lot of mixes that you can make up ahead of time. Hey, I am all for that! :) She talks about a book called Make-A-Mix and that is where she gets here mixes from.

Marty got me the Kindle edition and I tell you what there are some amazing recipes in there!

What caught my attention about the cook book is that most of the recipes are so simple that children can help.  When the girls come in from playing outside we are going to tackle making up a batch of pancake mix!

Spring may have sprung!

The past couple days we have been above 0! I can only hope it is finally going to start warming on up. :)  Today our temperature has been around 3 Celsius (around 37 Fahrenheit)!  I have had our kitchen window open most of the day. It has been nice to have lots of fresh air in the house.

A warm up?!
It has also been nice to be able to finally get caught up on the laundry. :) Things don't dry very fast in below zero weather. The towels and blue jeans usually take a few days to dry outside. And when you do bring them in you can usually stand up on their own. :)
I hope your weather is warming up and you get to go out and enjoy it. :)

Rolo Cookies...Yes Please!

We were in the mood for some yummy cookies. I was going to make some chocolate chip cookies but decided to spice it up and make something different. We bought some of our version of Rolo's in town the other day because they were on sale, and hey, who doesn't enjoy a good Rolo!  :)

I went to Pinterest and looked up some Rolo cookies and found an amazingly simple recipe.

Here is the link to the recipe~http://www.sixsistersstuff.com/2011/07/rolo-cookies.html

Here are the Rolo cookies I made.
I made them and they are AMAZING!! I tasted them and my first words were, "Oh my yummy stars!" :)

Kitchen mishaps!

Today at church we got to talking about making your own sour cream. Later we went to the store to get groceries. I looked for for some sour cream there, and they didn't have any. So I got some heavy cream and some lemon juice. I got home and realized I had no idea how to mix it right. So I asked Carole and got all the information I needed and off to work I went. I had it all going in my mixer. I'm not sure where I went wrong, but I did. :)

Marty comes in the kitchen when I asked him to taste it. He's my culinary guinea pig. :) He said that it tasted a little off, so he threw in some salt and more lemon juice. After some more mixing it started to get really thick. Marty tastes it again and said if we had some cheese cloth we could make some cottage cheese! He then starts to drain the extra liquid off. By the time we got all the extra liquid off we ended up with butter!

Me and our butter!
There is never a dull moment in my house. Today, I got to contribute to the laughter with my kitchen mishap.  :D
